International Diploma (Part One)
Certificate in Clinical Hypnosis
The aim of this four weekend intensive course is to provide a sound introduction to hypnosis, enabling those attending to obtain a foundation of knowledge as an aid to the eventual practice of hypnotherapy. The course is part-time and will meet on three intermittent weekends culminating in a viva voce (Part One) exam. Students are also required to do reading and written work as part of the course structure.
Additional material such as lectures on the nervous, digestive and cardiovascular systems, psychological theories and ethics will be presented by our medical personnel. Whilst this course does not ask participants to delve too deeply into diagnostic routines, emphasis is given to recognition of conditions in which hypnotherapy may be contra-indicated. However, students are expected to acquire skills which are directly relevant to improving the quality of life for themselves and those around them.
On successful completion of the Certificate Course and upon passing the Part One examination, students are entitled to apply for a place on the Diploma Course.
Eligibility
As a practical programme, Part One will be especially useful for people engaged in the caring professions. Health-care professionals, teachers, counsellors and social workers can usefully explore the clinical applications of hypnosis within the spectrum of work they already do.
Although a life science or psychology qualification may appear to give an edge for this course, we feel that this area is only a small part of the learning curve for becoming competent in hypnotherapy. The LCCH operates a system of Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) and therefore the course is open to those with a genuine interest in clinical hypnosis. So that suitability may be assessed, students will be required to attend an interview with a college officer before being accepted. At this interview the candidate should demonstrate interest, enthusiasm and life experience appropriate to the objectives of the course. In addition, candidates must furnish the LCCH with two references, the name and address of their General Practitioner and their National Insurance number.
Part One is probably the most comprehensive introduction to clinical hypnosis available anywhere in the world today. Several years of research and practice have gone into the creation of this programme, enabling many to graduate successfully onto the Diploma part of the course and eventually into full practice as hypnotherapists. Part One is a complete course - in its own right - the structure of which provides not only powerful stand alone self-improvement techniques for individuals who perhaps do not wish to take their studies any further but also the knowledge and expertise vital for those wishing to progress into a new career.
LCCH Teacher Training
The LCCH aims to present the course material in as interesting and informative a way as possible. To this end, lecturers are chosen from among practitioners who have demonstrated expertise in particular areas of hypnotherapy. As they are all practising therapists, they can add their own practical experience to the theories taught on the course. On-going training in presentation and information gathering skills is given by members of our Faculty, to ensure our tutors maintain a consistently high standard.
